Meet the 2020-2021 Officers
Co-President: Cole Glosser
Hello, my name is Cole Glosser and I’m excited to serve as the SCEC Co-President this year! I’m a 3rd year Sport Management Major and Disability Studies Minor from Austin, Texas, and I hope to have a career in adapted sports for children with disabilities. I absolutely love sports, all things UT, and I enjoy singing, acting, playing basketball, and bringing about awareness to disability issues! I can’t wait to advocate for and serve the disabled community here in Austin in an adaptable way!
Co-President: James Markert
Hello, my name is James Markert and I am also thrilled to serve as a Co-President for SCEC this year! I am a fifth-year super senior double majoring in both special education and audiology in the UT College of Education and Moody College of Communication. My hobbies include baking, reading science fiction, and playing both board and video games. I am also profoundly deaf with cochlear implants and know a middling level of ASL and ESL and love talking with people about all things related to disabilities, especially deafness! My goals this year include raising awareness and increasing education of disability advocacy, accommodations, and the normalization of disabilities as positive differences.
Treasurer: Megan Myers
Hi, my name is Megan Myers, and I am the Treasurer for SCEC this year! I am a senior studying Exercise Science, who loves to cook and work out. I'm excited to raise awareness of disabilities amongst the student body, and meet new people!
Secretary and Webmaster: Leslie Tang
My name is Leslie and I am the Secretary and Webmaster this year for SCEC! I am a senior currently majoring in Visual Arts Studies with an Elements of Computing Certificate. My hobbies are creating art and playing video games. I look forward to meeting new members this year!
Outreach Coordinator: Derry Wagner
Hi! My name is Derry Wagner, and I’m the Outreach Coordinator for SCEC this year. I’m a 4th year Elementary Education major with a minor in Arabic. I was born and raised in Austin and I love to bake, swim, and read new books. I’m excited for the great year ahead and growing our presence among the UT student body!
Co-Publicity Director and ED Co-Representative: Lea Powell
Hi! My name is Lea Powell, and I am the Publicity Director and Education Council Representative for SCEC. I am from Houston, TX, and I am entering into my sophomore year as a special education major. Some of my hobbies include painting, hanging out with my friends, traveling, doing anything outdoors like hiking or running, and cooking. This year, I want to make myself and other students more involved with the College of Education, and I hope to experience more volunteer opportunities and strengthen my leadership qualities.

My name is Elena and I am the Publicity Director and Education Council Representative for SCEC! I am a sophomore special education major and hope to teach Kindergarten after I graduate! I am from Arlington, TX and love to run outside, cook new recipes, watch documentaries and bullet journal! I am so excited to meet the new members and help educate UT on how to work alongside and be advocates for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities!
